Featuring acoustic guitars and great vocals Fingerprints is Australia’s premier Powderfinger Tribute band. Based on the Gold Coast Fingerprints band name comes from Powderfinger’s greatest hits album “Fingerprints”. Fingerprints also plays a range of rock covers to suit any party, function or wedding – see the Song List tab for a complete list of songs.
Fingerprints have blended the best of Powderfinger’s acoustic and live material with their studio recordings to capture the essence of Powderfinger’s unique sound. Fingerprints want their audience to be able to really hear the vocals, individual instruments and the flavour of the music and not just an electric wall of sound. Fingerprints encourage audience participation with the iconic Powderfinger songs that have become Aussie rock anthems such as “My Happiness”, “Passenger”, “Sunsets”, “Waiting for the Sun”, “Burn Your Name” and “Sail the Wildest Stretch”.
As well as the “Powderfinger Tribute Show” comprising over 20 of Powderfinger’s Greatest Songs, Fingerprints also does an “Aussie Rock Tribute Show” with great songs from Aussie artists like The John Butler Trio, Pete Murray, INXS, Midnight Oil, Crowded House, Thirsty Merc, Hunters & Collectors, Paul Kelly, Bernard Fanning, Diesel & more.
Fingerprints can play as a 2, 3 or 4 piece band. The 2 piece may consist of drums & guitar or 2 guitars – perfect for a small function or wedding with an acoustic feel. Having played at small venues to just 50 people or at large outdoor events with many thousands Fingerprints are experienced enough to bring the right ‘feel’ to your event or function.
Fingerprints also has a wide selection of songs from international artists like Foo Fighters, Coldplay, Pearl Jam, Black Keys & Pink Floyd to name a few.
The idea for the band came after Wes, Nathan and Haydn went to Powderfinger’s last concert on the Gold Coast together in September 2010. Feeling a little nostalgic Wes and Nathan started jamming on their acoustic guitars with a few Powderfinger songs. After playing a couple of gigs as a duo Wes and Nathan decided to add bass and drums with the goal of performing as a Powderfinger Tribute band.
